Early Life and Background

Born on October 13, 1990, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Pooja Hegde hails from a Tulu-speaking Bunt family originally from Udupi, Karnataka. Her father, Manjunath Hegde, is a criminal lawyer, and her mother, Latha Hegde, is an immunologist and entrepreneur. She has an elder brother, Rishabh Hegde, who is an orthopaedic surgeon.


Pooja completed her schooling at Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School in Mumbai and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from M. M. K. College. Fluent in multiple languages, including Tulu, English, Hindi, Marathi, and Kannada, she later learned Telugu to pursue her career in the respective cinema. Trained in classical dance and music for ten years, she developed an early interest in traditional dance forms like Bharatanatyam.​


Pageantry and Entry into Films




Pooja's foray into the limelight began with beauty pageants. She competed in the Miss India 2009 competition, winning the Miss India Talented 2009 title. The following year, she was the second runner-up in the Miss Universe India 2010 competition. Her pageant success opened doors to the film industry, leading to her acting debut in the Tamil film "Mugamoodi" (2012), where she played the female 



Professional Journey

Early Career (2012–2017)

After her debut, Pooja expanded to Telugu cinema with "Oka Laila Kosam" (2014), earning positive reviews for her performance. She continued with roles in films like "Mukunda" and made her Hindi film debut opposite Hrithik Roshan in "Mohenjo Daro" (2016). In 2017, she starred in the Telugu action comedy "DJ: Duvvada Jagannadham," which was a commercial success.​


Rise to Prominence (2018–Present)


Pooja's career saw significant growth with films like "Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava" (2018), "Maharshi" (2019), and "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo" (2020), the latter earning her the SIIMA Award for Best Actress - Telugu. She also appeared in Bollywood films such as "Housefull 4" (2019) and "Cirkus" (2022). In 2023, she starred opposite Salman Khan in "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan," and in 2025, she appeared in the Hindi action thriller "Deva" alongside Shahid Kapoor
