Roshni Nadar Malhotra is an Indian billionaire businesswoman and philanthropist, renowned as the chairperson of HCL Technologies and the first woman to lead a publicly listed IT company in India. She is the only child of Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL, and Kiran Nadar, an art collector and philanthropist. 

Born in 1982 in New Delhi, Roshni attended Vasant Valley School. She pursued undergraduate studies in Communication with a focus on Radio/TV/Film at Northwestern University in Illinois, USA. She furthered her education by earning an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, specializing in Social Enterprise Management and Strategy. 

Before joining HCL, Roshni worked as a producer in various companies. Within a year of joining HCL, she was appointed as the Executive Director and CEO of HCL Corporation. She later became the chairperson of HCL Technologies after her father stepped down. Under her leadership, HCL has continued to be a significant player in the global IT services industry. 

Philanthropy

Beyond her corporate role, Roshni is deeply involved in philanthropic activities. She is a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which focuses on education and has established some of India's top colleges and schools. She also chairs the VidyaGyan Leadership Academy, an institution aimed at providing quality education to economically underprivileged students. Additionally, she founded 'The Habitats Trust,' dedicated to protecting India's natural habitats and indigenous species to promote sustainable ecosystems. 

Personal Life

Roshni is a trained classical musician. In 2010, she married Shikhar Malhotra, the vice-chairman of HCL Healthcare, and the couple has two sons.
