At just 18, Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Shriya Rao is making significant waves in the Indian Pop and R&B scene with her distinctive blend of jazz, R&B, and soul. Her music journey began early, with vocal training starting at age 11 at the Sobo House of Music, followed by further development at the True School of Music. 

Shriya's discography includes several singles that showcase her evolving artistry. Her debut EP, "In A Box," released earlier this year, offers an intimate glimpse into her personal world, reflecting vulnerability and resilience. 

 The EP's four tracks are characterized by their strikingly personal narratives and sophisticated production, blending dynamic rhythms with vivid imagery.

Her recent single, "Like That," released on July 26, 2024, exemplifies her ability to craft groovy, sexy numbers that resonate with contemporary audiences. The track blends contemporary R&B, alternative R&B, and soul, reflecting her diverse musical influences, including Daniel Caesar, Summer Walker, and Erykah Badu. 

Shriya's live performances have graced prestigious venues across Mumbai, such as the Royal Opera House, NCPA, and St. Andrews Auditorium, totaling over 50 live shows. Beyond her music releases, she has lent her voice to advertisements for leading brands like Nykaa Fashion, Tang, and Lenskart. 

Her music videos, including the self-directed "On My Mind," showcase her multifaceted talent and vision. The song blends pop and R&B elements, depicting a teenager's acceptance that joyful moments in a relationship are fleeting, evoking feelings of sentimentality and nostalgia. 

Looking ahead, Shriya is working on a four-song EP, with the first track set to release in August. She describes it as a glimpse into the vast and creative mind of an 18-year-old artist who's just getting started, promising to take listeners on a journey of vivid imagery and romantic energy. 

With her unique sound and authentic storytelling, Shriya Rao is undoubtedly a rising star in the Indian music landscape, unconfined by traditional genre boundaries.
