Natalie Portman, born Neta-Lee Hershlag on June 9, 1981, in Jerusalem, is an acclaimed Israeli-American actress, director, and producer. She is the only child of Avner Hershlag, an Israeli physician, and Shelley Stevens, an American homemaker who also served as her agent. The family relocated to the United States when she was three years old. Portman holds dual citizenship and is fluent in both English and Hebrew. 



Portman's acting career began at the age of twelve with her role in "Léon: The Professional" (1994), which garnered critical acclaim. She gained widespread recognition portraying Padmé Amidala in the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy (1999–2005). Her performance in "Black Swan" (2010) earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress. Other notable films include "Closer" (2004), "V for Vendetta" (2005), "Jackie" (2016), and her role as Jane Foster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's "Thor" series. 




In her personal life, Portman married French choreographer Benjamin Millepied in 2012, whom she met on the set of "Black Swan." They have two children together: a son, Aleph, born in 2011, and a daughter, Amalia, born in 2017. The couple divorced in 2024 after 11 years of marriage. 




As of March 2025, Portman is reportedly dating French musician Tanguy Destable, known by his stage name Tepr. Destable has collaborated with various artists and contributed to video game music projects.
