She began her acting journey at a young age and has since established herself as a prominent figure in the Indian entertainment industry.

Early Life and Education

Shweta's family relocated to Mumbai during her childhood. She pursued her education at R. N. Podar High School in Santacruz, Mumbai, and later graduated in mass media and journalism. Her father, Anuj Prasad, is a businessman and civil engineer, while her mother, Sarmistha Basu, is a musician and writer. Shweta also has a brother named Rahul Prasad.

Acting Career

Shweta's acting career commenced as a child artist in television series such as "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii" (2000) and "Karishma Kaa Karishma" (2003). Her film debut came in 2002 with the critically acclaimed movie "Makdee," where she portrayed dual roles as Chunni and Munni. Her exceptional performance earned her the National Film Award for Best Child Artist.

In 2005, she starred in "Iqbal," directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, playing the role of Khadija. This role garnered her the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 5th Karachi International Film Festival. Following this success, Shweta took a brief hiatus to focus on her studies.

Upon returning to the screen, she expanded her repertoire by acting in various regional films, including the Telugu movie "Kotha Bangaru Lokam" (2008), which was a commercial success. She also appeared in Tamil and Bengali films, showcasing her versatility across different languages and genres.

Personal Life

Shweta married filmmaker Rohit Mittal on December 13, 2018. However, the couple announced their separation on December 10, 2019. Despite personal challenges, Shweta has remained focused on her professional growth and continues to evolve as an artist.
